Private clinic
project
Design of a breast surgery clinic
Specializing in breast surgery, the private clinic offers consultation services and minor operations on-site. Within an area of less than 2,000 sq. ft., FOR. created three consultation rooms with desks and examination tables, an operating room with prosthesis storage, and a waiting area for 12 people adjacent to a reception desk. The surgeon-client envisioned a simple and refined aesthetic, with a touch of luxury, aiming to provide a memorable, high-end experience that assures quality for their clientele.
First and foremost, the clinic was established in a space shaped by the expansions of a neighboring tenant. As a result, the layout was fragmented, wrapping around an emergency stairwell, filled with nooks and lacking natural light.
Faced with these physical constraints, FOR. organized the clinic into clear and distinct volumes, aligned with the brand colors from the logo: the reception area in gray serves as a passage before entering the medical zones; the consultation rooms are in violet; and the operating room is in pink. Nonetheless, white remains the dominant color, primarily used to brighten this windowless space. Within this simplicity, touches of color and carefully selected materials create visual anchors that draw attention away from spatial irregularities.
The angled reception desk guides visitors naturally along the path of the clinic. Changes in materials from floor to ceiling physically and psychologically separate the reception area from the consultation spaces. The custom-made reception furniture mirrors the brand’s curves and reflects femininity, aligning with the clinic's predominantly female clientele (95%).
Special attention was given to soundproofing the spaces, with floor-to-ceiling walls and 3-inch acoustic insulation between all operating rooms, consultation rooms, and public areas, ensuring patient confidentiality.
This project also required an in-depth study of medical regulations, particularly regarding hygiene, material compliance, and implant storage. FOR. selected easily washable materials such as ceramic tiles at the entrance, vinyl flooring in high-traffic areas for stretcher passage, and antibacterial rubber with fused seams in the operating room. For lighting, FOR. opted for non-glare LED fixtures to ensure the comfort of patients in a reclined position.
Thanks to its thoughtful design, this clinic achieves both functional and aesthetic goals, despite a limited budget and the challenges posed by its unique spatial constraints. Patients experience a high-end environment where every detail is designed to optimize their comfort.
